Friday is the Best Day of the Week.
Prophet (SAWW) said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created; on it he was made to enter Paradise; on it he was expelled from it; and the (last) hour (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) will take place on no other day except Friday.” (Muslim 854)
1- Take a Bath (ghusl) and clean yourself:
Friday is a blessed day, one should take a bath and cleanse oneself as he/she is going to attend a special occasion.
l Allah's Messenger (SAWW) said, "Anyone of you attending the Friday (prayers) should take a bath." (Al Bukhari 887,see also 894, 895,)
l According to an other Hadith, ( Al Bukhari 879) Taking the bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim.
l The Messenger of Allaah (SAWW) said: "...Take a bath on Friday, purify yourself as much as you can (I.e, cut the nails, trim the moustache and remove armpit hair),*..." (Al Bukhaari - Vol 2, Hadith 883)
l “There are Five acts quite necessary for human Nature (Fitra), circumcision, shaving the pubes, cutting the nails, plucking the hair under the armpits and clipping the moustache.(Al Muslim 495)
(Do not forget to comb your hair nicely).
2:Use Miswak:
Take extraordinary care of oral cleanliness and make sure that your breath is fresh. Allah's Messenger (SAWW) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwaak, and the using of perfume if it is available." (Al Bukhari 880)
3:Apply oil and Perfume:
The Prophet (SAWW) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven."(Al Bukhari 883, 887, 888)
4:Wear nice clothes:
Friday congregation is a special time that requires Muslims to appear in the best manner possible. One should therefore put on his perfect and clean garments for Friday prayer. It doesn't matter that if clothes are new or not but they should be spotless and washed.
l “The people came for Jumu'a prayer from their houses in the neighbouring villages dressed in woollen garments on which dust was settled and this emitted a foul smell. A person among them (those who were dressed so) came to the Messenger of Allah (SAWW) while he was in my house. The Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) said to him: Were you to cleanse yourselves on this day”.(Al Muslim 847)
l There is nothing wrong anyone of you if he can afford it buying two garments for Friday other than his daily work clothes.(Sunan Ibn Majah, vol1, Book5, H 1096)
5:Recite Surah Al Kahaf:
l “Whoever reads surat Al-Kahf on the night of Friday, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (i.e., the Ka`bah).”
(Narrated by al-Daarimi, 3407Authenticated by Al-Albani)
l “Whoever recites Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, he will be illuminated with light from one Friday to the next.”
(Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249)
6: Make Dua:
Do not miss the Golden opportunity to make du’a on Friday which is specially accepted and answered by Allah,
“On Friday there is a (Special) hour when, if a Muslims happens to pray at that time and ask Allaah for something good, He will give it to him.” (Al-Bukhari 5295and Muslim 852) (see also Bukhari 893 Muslim, 852)
7:Walk (calmly and gracefully) to the mosque on foot:
Benefit of walking to mosque:"Anyone whose feet are covered with dust in Allah's cause, shall be saved by Allah from the Hell-Fire."(Al Bukhari 907)
8:Go for the Jumma prayer early:
There is a very beautiful hadith, Once Prophet (SAWW) said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumua prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."(Al Bukhari 929, see also 881)
9:Listen to the Khutbah carefully and quietly:
Benefit of following the sunnah: Allah's Messenger (SAWW) said, "Anyone who takes a bath on Friday and cleans himself as much as he can and puts oil or scents himself; and then proceeds for the prayer and does not force his way between two persons (assembled in the mosque), and prays as much as is written for him and remains quiet when the Imam delivers the Khutba, all his sins in between the present and the last Friday will be forgiven." (Al Bukhari 910, see also Muslim, 857 )
10:Send Durood on Prophet(SAWW) Abundantly:
“Verily, the best of days is Friday…so increase in conveying peace and blessings upon me on that day, for your blessings are presented to me...”
(Sunan Abi Dawud 1047,Ibn Khuzaimah 1733 and Ibn Hibban 910)
Friday Don’ts
1- Working during Friday Prayers:
Working during the Jummah Salah is prohibited, as soon as you hear the Adhaan on Friday, you should rush towards mosque and put a pause on every work you are doing at that time. As Allah says in Quran;
"O believers, when the call is proclaimed for the prayer on Friday, come to the remembrance of Allah and leave off business, that is better for you if you but did know." [Al-Jumuah, 62:9]
2:Arriving late for Jummah prayer:
Plan ahead for Jummah Prayer in time so there will be no reason for you to be late to the Jummah Prayer, and thus there will be more chances to achieve higher ranks. (See Al Bukhari 907, 814 and Al Muslim 850)
3.Not listening to Khutbah:
People who do not listen to Khutbah with attention are missing out the entire reward of Praying Jummah. it is obligatory to listen the khutbah attentively.
4- Remain silent during the Khutbah:
It is prohibited to talk or distract others during Khutbah. Even when immam is delievering Khutbah ,one is not allowed to tell others to keep quiet .
“If you say to your companion: Listen attentively on a Friday when the Imam is delivering the khutbah, then you have engaged in idle talk.”
(Al-Bukhaari, 892; Muslim, 851)
5-Not Praying Jummah prayer:
Never miss Jummah prayer as Prophet(SAWW) said,“People must cease to neglect the Friday prayer or Allah will seal their hearts and then they will be among the negligent. .” (Muslim865)
1- Do not step over others:
Abu Dawood (1118) and Ibn Maajah (1115) narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Busr (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “A man came and started stepping over the people one Friday when the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was delivering the khutbah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to him: “Sit down, for you have annoyed (people).”
