1-The Sunnahs of waking up
What I have to do after waking up in the morning according to Sunnah?
1- Wake up early in the morning:
Waking up early is mustahib as narrated Hazrat Aisha,
"He used to sleep early at night, and get up in its last part to pray, and then return to his bed. When the Mu'adh-dhin pronounced the Adhan, he would get up. If he was in need of a bath he would take it; otherwise, he would perform ablution and then go out (for the prayer)." (Bukhari 1146)
Benefits of this Sunnah: "There is Barakah/blessing and success in the early hours of the morning." Waking up early in the morning have great impact on your overall well being. This is the Best time to recite, memorise or learn Qur'an (or anything else). Brain tends to be most alert in the morning time and you are able to focus better. Getting up early gives you a kick start for the day ahead and decreases stress. So you can say that mornings are the most productive time of day with least distractions. It has some long term benefits like, It improves your sleep (as waking up early is having the ability to go to sleep early as well.)
2-Wipe the effect of sleep from the face with hands:
Immam Nawawee and Ibn Hajar recommended this act referring to a Hadith narrated, “When the Messenger of Allah(SAWW) woke up, he should sit up and rub away the effect of sleep from his face with his both hand”.(Al Bukhari 183)
3-Say the Du’aa (suplication) of waking up:
As soon as you wake up say this dua,
"الْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ".
“All praise and thanks to Allah Who gave us life after death(sleep), and all resurrection will be to Him”.
(Al Bukhari 6312)
4-Wash both hands three times:
“ When one of you wakes up from sleep he must not dip his hands into an utensil until he washes his hands three times.” (Al Muslim 278)
5-Snuff water:
When one of you wakes up from sleep then snuff water three times.
“ For indeed Shaitan spends the night in the upper part of his nose”.
( Al Bukhari 3295, Al Muslim 245)
6-Cleanse your mouth (Using Miswak):
Whenever the Prophet (SAWW) woke up, even
at night; he used the Miswak/Siwak to clean his teeth.
(Al Bukhari 245)
The wisdom behind this Sunnah: is that the Miswak freshen up and activates the body and eliminates bad breath.
7-Perform Wudu:
Narrated Abu Huraira, Prophet of Allah (SAWW) said:
"Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep. When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone and when one prays, the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."
(Sahih Bukhari - Book 21, Hadith 243)
8-Recite Quran:
It is Mustahab to do Dhikr (remember Allah) after Fajr and Dhikr undoubtedly includes reading Qur’aan.
Al-Tirmidhi narrated that the Prophet (SASWW) said: “Whoever prays Fajr in jama’ah, then sits and remembers Allah until the sun comes up, then prays two rak’ahs, will have a reward like that of Hajj and ‘Umrah.” He said: the Messenger of Allah (SAWW) said, “Complete, complete, complete.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 480).
Allah, Almighty says in the Qur'an:
"Perform the Salat (Prayer) from midday till the darkness of the night, and recite the Qur'an in the early dawn. Verily, the recitation of the Qur'an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels)." (Bani-Israeel, 17:78)
