Sunnahs of Siwaak

3-The Sunnah of Siwak

How do I have to use Miswaak in sunnah way?

The habit of Miswaak is so important that the Prophet(SAWW) said about it,
“Had it not been that I might cause hardship to my people, I would have ordered them to use Siwak for every prayer”. ( Al-Bukhari 887 & Muslim 252).
Allah's Messenger (SAWW) said, "I have told you repeatedly to use the Siwak. (The Prophet (SAWW) put emphasis on the use of the Siwak.(AL bukhari 888).
Siwak can be used on numerous occasions. The Muslim may use a Siwak many times during day and night for example;

1) Before five obligatory prayers and other non-obligatory prayers( like Tahajud, Ishraq, Ad-Duha)
2) Upon entering the house, because the first thing performed by the Prophet(SAWW) when he enters his house he began by using the Siwak, as narrated by Aisha ,(Sahih Muslim 253).
3) Before reciting the Holy Quran,
4) Upon changing the smell of the mouth,
5) Upon waking up,
6) Upon making ablution (Wudhou’).

The wisdom behind this Sunnah: The Prophet(SAWW) said, “The Sewak is a purifier and pleasing to the Lord”.(Masnad Ahmad. 7)
Health benefits of Siwaak are many, just a few are mentioned below,
